» Biography

Explosive, erudite and energetic, Boston's the Blue Bloods bust out hard hitting, almost anthemic punk rock tunes to bring a crowd up off their feet and into the air. The emphasis is on the rock -- hard hitting and hooky guitar work complements raw and melodic vocals. They aptly synthesize their influences, which include Minor Threat, Slapshot, Black Flag, The Misfits, Bad Religion, Social Distortion, The Bouncing Souls and a zillion others. Of their self-titled release now out on I Scream Records, Soundcheck Magazine wrote: "The Blue Bloods serve up catchy street punk with rock 'n roll riffs. This Boston band seems to be headed on the right track with this disc. Reminiscent of earlier Dropkick Murphys material - minus the Irish -the Blue Bloods have the gang backing vocals and 'whoas' in all the right spots."
Lead vocalist Tim Baxter and bassist/guitarist Greg (Goose) Genovese were high school buddies who had been in bands on and off since they were kids. When Tim met guitarist T.J. Welch at work, they immediately discovered their shared musical roots and decided it was time for a return to punk rock. Welch was playing in the band Gage at the time (featuring Al Barile of SS Decontrol), but left amicably to join Baxter and Goose (on bass guitar) to form the Blue Bloods. After a few lineup changes, they added Johnny Hurts on second guitar and Jym Bagtaz on drums. TJ has since moved on, but filling his shoes is none other than Bobby Bones (Ponyboy Curtis/Dying Contest).
Hard work and a DIY ethic helped the Blue Bloods record and release their first two CDs Rub Some Dirt on It (1999) and Twice as Strong (2001) on their own label Basement Records - aptly titled for the basement recordings of both CDs. Twice as Strong started to get both media and label attention. In 2002, the band signed to the popular European punk label I Scream Records. They hit The Outpost studio (Stoughton, MA) in August 2002 to record their self-titled full-length album under the guidance of Jim Siegal (Dropkick Murphys, Slapshot, Blood for Blood). The CD was released overseas in April 2003 on I Scream Records and in the U.S. on September 9th on GMM Records. In October of 2003 the band got the opportunity to be a part of the European Back On The Map Tour with other Boston greats Slapshot and Blood for Blood.
