1993 : UNDERGROUND SOCIETY is created in Rennes, France. First show in December with two friends on vocals... Permanent members are Bruno Salaün and Chris Chauffaut on the guitars, Tanguy Tual on bass and Julien Guesdon on drums.

1994 : Stéphane Mérand joins in on vocals.

1996-1997 : After producing two demo-tapes the previous year, the band plays numerous gigs in France, Belgium and Switzerland, with such bands as: MERAUDER, INTEGRITY, OUT FOR BLOOD, NO REDEEMING SOCIAL VALUE, STAMPIN' GROUND or DEVIATE…

1997 February : Jean-Will Ruello takes over from Bruno on guitar. "The Other Side" studio session takes place during winter. Upon the release, critics are more numerous and very positive. The music just got darker, blending hardcore with their taste for metal. Another studio recording is made in August.

1997-1998 September : Julio (drummer) leaves to spend 1 year studying in the USA. The band's activity stops. Jean-Will replaces Julio, who is also playing the guitar in a Rennes metal-hardcore band, A.W.O.L.

1998 May : "...In This Other Land" French Hardcore compilation is released on Overcome Records, featuring twelve bands on two CDs (KICKBACK, STORMCORE, RIGHT FOR LIFE, A.W.O.L., DROWNING, CHILDREN…).

September : As Julien returns, Chris leaves, to be replaced by Pascal Colleu, who was the original bass player / vocalist in Stormcore. Since then, UNDERGROUND SOCIETY's music has been growing towards a very strong rhythm section playing thrash-metal-like but especially groovy themes, with an always more heavy sound.

December : "…In This Other Land" promo shows take place with two other French bands in Paris and Brussels.

1999 May : "Superbowl of Hardcore 1.9.9.9" in Rennes' Liberté (1200 p.) with NAPALM DEATH, TURMOIL, NOSTROMO, VITALITY…

June : As they were scheduled to play at London's Evilfest, Jean-Will (guitar) leaves the band, who cancels, though later deciding to keep on playing with just one guitar.

October : "KABAL vs. UNDERGROUND SOCIETY" (Diabolik), and "BENEATH THE REMAINS - UNDERGROUND SOCIETY - FACEDOWN, NJ - KNOCK OUTZ" (Inner Rage Records) are released and feature unreleased material by UNDERGROUND SOCIETY. The first release in a 7" shared with the parisian fusion hip-hop band Kabal, the second is a compilation CD. UxS also play a few but very good shows as a four piece band such as the one with 25 TA LIFE in Saint-Brieuc(Brittany).

2000 Philippe Perrin is brought in on the second guitar. He is immediately told that the band plans on returning in the studio as soon as possible in order to work on a full-length project.

April : SkateXcore fest. in Rennes with MERAUDER, L'ESPRIT DU CLAN, RIGHT FOR LIFE...

May : Studio session for a promotionnal CD: 4 brand new tracks recorded in three days by Laurent Brunel, whose work on his own band's (Trickle) album had impressed UNDERGROUND SOCIETY (very soon afterwards, Laurent is hired by hardcore bands Ananda, Right For Life, To Learn and Inside Conflict!).

September : UNDERGROUND SOCIETY are preparing the recording of the 1st album, technically, as well as musically, and at the same time are working on their stage performances, as their shows concentrate on the French territory.

2001 March 30th : Show in Rennes' Antipode (500 p.) for MADBALL's last tour, with BACKFIRE and INSIDE CONFLICT. On the following day, the recording for the album begins. UNDERGROUND SOCIETY are planning to produce the whole project. The studio sessions give birth, in ten days, to ten songs, approximately 55 minutes of music.

June : Label Heic Noenum Pax Productions / Garmonbozia Inc. becomes co-producer of the forthcoming album. These friends of the band's are responsible for bringing a lot of metal bands to Rennes, this "far" part of France which is often forgotten by metal tour operators…

October 16th 2001 : Release of "Dreadful Days", Underground Society's first long playing record.

2002 "Dreadful Days" has been receiving excellent reviews upon release, acknowledging its sounding like a manifest from the band. It reflects all the influences and all the phases through which the band has travelled, from the most immediate hardcore furia to more progressive songs, ending by a surprising 9 min opus which closes the 12-song/54min album in a disturbing way: "Hope"...
